The Plea.

Spiritual PoemsThe Plea

I wonder if I’ll ever see
An end to all the misery
The suffering, also all the pain
The fighting that is all in vain

For what I ask myself each day
Do these young men their lives to pay
Can there not be an easy end
An angel can our lord not send
To settle all these bitter blows
And make more friends instead of foes

It would be nice to read of peace
And hear of all world wars to cease
For this the most of mankind yen
And have their three score years and ten.
