Angels of light

Hope you all read Pathway back to me, I had some good feedback from friends so much so that it inspired one of them to write this I hope you enjoy!
A poem inspired by Sonya Hudson

All the tricks that I have learned, All the bonfires that I’ve burned, All the offers that I’ve spurned, All the stones that I’ve upturned, All the money that I’ve earned Mean what? A spending spree? Nothing I’ve bought is really me.
Angel of Light, hear my plea, Tell me that I can buy me.
Always in another place, Putting on a pleasing face, Walking on at double pace, Never one to quit the race, Leaving not a single trace. Hitch a lift, the ride is free; Pity the journey isn’t me.
Angel of Light, hear my plea, Take me on the road to me.
Love has failed, my will is dead, My legs and feet have turned to lead. Warning lights flash on in red, A block lies in the road ahead; Time it is my load to shed. Is this block, this fallen tree, Intended as a sign to me?
Angel of Light, hear my plea, Bear me on your wings to me.
Stagger on, as if in trance, Tempted by a backward glance. Is all I have a broken lance To partner me in one last dance?
Now is the time to take a chance.
Tell me the cost – I’ll pay the fee, Bring me face-to-face with me. Angel of Light, hear my plea, I think I’m ready to be me. Alan Foscolo-Avis
